October-fest
As October comes to a close, I've had a great time in Portland together with Amara.
Happy Leafy Autumn!
To commemorate the fall, we played amidst the colorful leafyness present on OHSU's campus. We first fashioned a loving message to all of our family/friends out of leaves. Then we took various pictures including some showing us having a little leaf war (which ended in a happy truce). What a fun time!
(If you stare hard enough, the leaves jump out and kinda look 3D)
(Carrying your leafy opposition is an unofficial sign of peace)
Happy Pumpkiny Halloween!
Earlier tonight, we went to The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island, home of the original Corn Maize. The maze itself is quite large, spanning multiple acres, and if viewed from the top, has a very intricate and cool design that changes from year to year. Since Halloween is almost upon us, the maze becomes "haunted" in the evenings and features creepy decor and people who jump out and scare you. We had a shockingly good time. =)
On our way out, we picked up a pumpkin and brought it back to her apartment. After we gutted the pumpkin and began roasting the seeds, we brainstormed and came up with a design of a winking, smiley-faced sun with shining rays and a heart for a nose. I must admit that I wasn't very confident about the ability to carve such a guy, the realization of our design turned out pretty well. Yay!
(Look.. our outfits are color-coordinated, down to the very tomatoes we bought!)
(If he had hands, he'd be holding two scoops of raisins)
