Good, Good Times
Post Post First off, if you hadn't noticed, I am no longer the sole contributor to "the world of Yobo".. please welcome Yomara, who graciously wrote the previous entertaining and insightful post. Isn't she lovely? =)
Here's a recap of some of the fun stuff we've been up to lately..
Frisbee Golf A couple of weeks ago, armed with a couple of $2 frisbees I picked up from Fred Meyer (a local grocery, retail store), Amara and I decided to try out the frisbee golf course which is located behind her apartment complex. Who knew that it was such a serious sport and that you needed special equipment. Apparently, they have specific sets of frisbees with different characteristics to play. Depending on the weight and curvature, some of them are used as "drivers" and others as "putters." Those drivers are super cool because they can go super far with the right technique. In any case, we had a fun time going back and forth with our blue and orange frisbees and hitting the targets. In the end, Amara won for the day with a score of 7-6 on the 12 target course (there was one target that we tied on). Fun times!

Pleasant-town Last weekend, Amara and I were down in the Bay Area to visit her family (who recently moved to Pleasanton) and to attend the wedding of Superman and Oregon Duck. Amara flew down on Friday while I didn't get in until Saturday morning. Upon arrival, I drove straight over to her parents' new house in Pleasanton in my zippy Toyota Corolla rental car. Amara gave me a tour of the house, which is quite cool with a fairly unique layout (and they are even planning to renovate some more and make it even more cool). Plus, they have four of the cutest and fluffy puppies playing about.
We then went to the farmer's market in downtown Pleasanton and enjoyed some fresh fruits and nuts. Afterwards, we stopped for lunch at a Spanish cuisine restaurant. The food was pretty tasty, although a bit pricey. Amara's dad was very generous and treated us to lunch.

1 + 1 = 1
"If love was mathematical You'd understand the sum To the heart's equation Where one and one makes one And lonely equals me minus you" Kudos to you if you recognize which song that verse is from. (Hint: it's an old one from Michael W. Smith)
Going to Harvard and Cindy's wedding was quite nice. Not only was it a time to share in the joyous union of good friends, it was a chance to catch up with people and introduce them to meet Amara. She was well-recognized by readers of this blog (like YOU!). The best reaction to finding out who she was has to go to Pastor Josh, though. After being introduced to Amara by Jenn, Josh had a normal cordial response. However, when he saw her standing next to me, suddenly he realized the connection and did a triple take and guffawed, "Oh.. ohhh.. you're Amara!"
The wedding ceremony was held outdoors at the Palo Alto Hills country club. The pastor used an analogy of a violin to describe marriage, since both Harvard and Cindy were virtuoso violinists. The ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour, and then the reception. As usual, the food and company were excellent for the reception. I shared in the tastes of two entrees (prime rib and salmon) thanks to Amara. =) To conclude the evening, the dancing commenced and we lit up the floor for some good jivin'.

Back to School On Sunday, we started the day with a yummy pancake breakfast (made my Amara's mom) and then headed off to church at LSCC. We then made our way up to Berkeley for lunch with Vince, Jenn, and her boyfriend Lawrence at Zachary's, a popular pizza joint of deep-dish fame.
Since Amara had taken me on a nice tour of her alma mater (George Fox University), I thought it would nice and fitting to show her my old campus. So, after lunch, Vince and I took Amara on a tour of Berkeley's campus, starting at the North Gate and making our way through various notable landmarks including the Valley Life Sciences Building (where I spent a lot of time as a molecular cell biology major), a peek at the Freeborn dorm in Unit 1 (the birthplace of Freeborn 102), and the Haas Business School.

Pick-tures
Over the weekend, I didn't take very many photos (mainly because my camera battery died inopportunely), but fortunately, other people (like Jenn) were more prolific with their picture taking: Pics from my camera Pics from Jenn's camera
