Earlying
On Monday, I started my surgery rotation at OHSU. So far, it's been quite cool to see interesting operations and help manage post-operative patients. But unlike my pediatrics rotation, my days begin quite early in the morning because I have to pre-round on my patients before rounding on them with my team, and all that has to happen before 7:30am because that's when the first surgeries of the day start. For that reason, I've found myself getting up earlier and earlier, a process I like to call earlying. Starting on Sunday, this is how my week has played out in terms of rise 'n shine times..
Sunday - 8:30am Monday - 8:00am Tuesday - 6:30am Wednesday - 6:00am Thursday - 4:45am Friday - 4:30am (predicted)
If you extrapolate this (based on a 4 hour shift over 6 days), two weeks from now I will have to wake up for work at 7pm. Of course, that doesn't make much sense because fortunately, the earlying process doesn't continue indefinitely. Anyway, the point is I should be going to sleep earlier since I'll have to be up in at fairly advanced hours in the day.
