Spectacular Spectacles
Over the winter break, I had my eyes checked. Fortunately, the prescriptions had not gotten much worse over the past 3 years, but the vision in my good eye (the left one) had declined. With a new prescription, I decided to purchase two new pairs of glasses from www.39dollarglasses.com. They came in the mail earlier this week, and so far, I am very pleased with them. Not only were they a great value (each pair only cost about $60, including frame and lenses), but they had a great selection of styles and the quality of the glasses is pretty good.
It took a while for me to pick which frames to get. After narrowing the choices down to 3 or 4, I asked my brother what he thought. He preferred the black-rimmed ones for making me look "more like a doctor." In some ways that's important, but in other ways it's not. I appreciated the feedback, but it's not like if I wore the gunmetal-colored ones that my future patients are going to complain about my "glasses detracting from the convincing and proper portrayal of a real doctor."
Sans spectacles, with gunmetal-rimmed glasses, and with black-rimmed glasses
At the moment, I prefer the black ones. I think it's because they're novel to me since the gunmetal ones remind me of my old glasses. I'm still not persuaded to wear corrective lenses full-time. But perhaps someday..
