All Hallow Even
Halloween also Hallowe'en (hàl´e-wên´, hòl´-) noun October 31, celebrated in the United States, Canada, and the British Isles by children going door to door while wearing costumes and begging treats and playing pranks. (The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language) This will be the first Halloween (which is short for "All Hallow Even") in many many years that I actually do something for it (like dress up). I figure I have to due to the fact that I'm going to the All-Hill Halloween Party tonight. Unexpectedly, the extent of my involvement ballooned immensely earlier this week. Last week, I wasn't planning on going to the party (Halloween is not my bag, baby). On Monday, since the student council requested some help, I volunteered to assist with setting up. Later on Monday, I was volunteered to purchase and coordinate the set-up of the decorations. I reluctantly accepted in the wake of nobody else stepping up, but what was I thinking? First off, I'm a guy who hardly even pays attention to decorations. Second, I didn't even attend the party last year, so I have no idea what it looked like before. It makes no sense that I would be "in charge" of decorations for a party in light of my lack of any qualifications whatsoever. After having spent mucho dinero in buying stuff for the party, it's no wonder that Halloween ranks sixth in holiday spending. Anyway, this should be interesting.. needless to say, it's going to be a long day/night. I really hope it turns out looking OK.
