Shout Out

Hi everyone! I'm glad that there are still people (at least I think there are) who come and read this from time to time.

Buy Out

Lately, I've purchased a few items which I didn't totally need (although they aren't things I don't need at all). Since I was able to get a good bargain on them, I figured why not. One thing I bought was a new pair of Skechers slip-on black leather shoes. These ended up costing $40 and are useful for wearing to clinic or other more dressy functions. Another thing I bought recently was a new keyboard. It only cost $10 (shipped via 2-day FedEx for free, too) and is replacing my old ailing keyboard. The old keyboard worked fine for the most part (except for the "0" key that had problems, and the "g" key was starting to become unresponsive, too), but being old, it was fairly dirty. A weird thing about the new keyboard I got is that it doesn't have an "insert" key, which is normally found above the "delete" key. Instead, it just has an extra long "delete" key. Strangeness.. perhaps this is a sign of the times.. turning "insert" on/off is just out of date..

Sell Out

On Saturday, I helped out with a student-organized, community outreach health-related event called "Bridging the Gap." There were lectures in the morning where speakers were discussing the disparities in healthcare and how to address them. In the afternoon, there was a health fair in the exhibit hall featuring stations for blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, and fitness screenings amongst other interest groups tabling. Since the event was sponsored by a large grant from Pfizer, they had a fairly large presence. I managed to pick up a bunch of pharmaceutically-funded fixings (shown below):

While the USB mini-travel optical mouse is probably worth the most, my favorite item is the Zoloft wallclock. That little sad oval guy is darn cute.

Ship Out

Over the weekend, I watched The Transporter 2, the sequel to The Transporter (duh). Instead of freeing Chinese immigrants sold into slavery from a shipping container, this time, Frank (played by Jason Statham) has to rescue a kidnapped boy and foil an assassination plot. Action-wise, it was very comparable in quality to the first movie, but I think they did a better job with the plot and character development in this one. Plus, it didn't have the unrealistic and out-of-nowhere romance between the main characters. Anyway, I enjoyed the film and was quite entertained. Time well spent.
