MMM
On Wednesday, I had a magnicent meal at Morton's with Allen and Shelley. Allen was super nice and treated us to dinner since he was leaving at the end of this week to head back down to UCSD. I had some lobster bisque, a 20oz New York strip steak, some sauteed wild mushrooms, Lyonnaise potatoes, and some of the Morton's World Famous Hot Chocolate Cake. Everything was delicious. It's been a while since I've had such classy and quality food. It's crazy to think that kings and other people get to eat this well all the time. Anyway, thanks again to Allen!
Instant UNgratification
This morning was our first exam of the year. To check our test scores, we used to have to wait until they posted them in this bulletin board thing, which was usually after a day or so. And because the bulletin board thing was on campus, it required an extra trip to school to check it (that is, if you were so inclined to see your score).
This year, the teaching services people have implemented an online system to check our exam scores. For some, that translates into instant gratification, but in my case, it leads to instant ungratification (accompanied by disappointment and disdain). Man, I'm dumb. It seems that I always dig myself into a big hole with the first exam. I have to find some way to turn things up in the beginning, so as to give myself a better chance for doing well in a course. Getting an "honors" in this course is nearly out of reach (not impossible, but highly improbable), and "near honors" will still require some hard work. Grr..
