Hold On JetYou tried so hard to be someone That you forgot who you are You tried to fill some emptiness ‘Til all you had spilled over Now everything’s so far away That you don’t know where you are, you are Insectious
Since it's summer time, I've been keeping my windows and doors open more. But it totally bugs me that there are so many little bugs in my apartment. The size of the openings in the screens on my windows/screendoor just aren't small enough to filter these buggers out. Plus, there was this colony of spiders growing on my ceiling fan/light fixture. Normally, I'm cool with spiders (because they help take care of the other flying insects), except there were just too many this time. And, seeing as they were hanging over the place where I sit and periodically dropping down, I was forced to dole out some extermination on them.
Community Service
I went and volunteered at the SW Community Health Clinic last Thursday afternoon. There were two other med students, a nurse, a resident, and an attending physician on duty. During the 4 hour session, we were able to see 13 patients. The cases I handled included a man suffering from symptoms of undiagnosed diabetes, a boy with pneumonia, and a man with a pretty bad case of contact dermatitis on his hands. It was a good experience since I had the opportunity to practice my history taking and basic physical exam skills. And as an added bonus, I got to spend some time talking to Eek because she happened to have a volunteering shift on the same night. Some things never change and some things do. Even though the feelings are gone, there's definitely an attraction that still remains.
