Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Green Day
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know were it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone
Friendly Fire-works

LSCC had a July 4th BBQ on Sunday. The festivities included some sports (softball, basketball, ultimate frisbee), some food, and some good fellowship. And what 4th of July is complete without watching some quality fireworks when it gets dark. Despite containing the "MAXIMUM POWDER ALLOWED BY LAW," both the Mighty Max and Delirium (Fountain Supremo) were quite disappointing. (Perhaps symbolically) the American Spirit cannister really does give the most bang for the buck.

Bay to Port

Not only was July 4th Independence Day for our great nation, but it also meant independence from speeding tickets for me. I just got back to Portland after spending the past few days in the Bay Area. While driving, I passed a shipping truck that said "SFO to Seattle." Lucky for me, my trip was a good 180 miles shorter than his. While I'm glad that I arrived safely, it's sad that I'm no longer in California and that my vacation is over (on my computer, the pictures folder for my trip is cleverly named "California Dreamin'").

Past Due

Getting back hungry last night, I couldn't make regular Kraft Mac 'n Cheese because I didn't have any milk. But Velveeta is nice because the cheese sauce comes pre-mixed and in a pouch ("it's the creamiest!"). August 3, 2004 was the supposed "expiration date" of the box of Velveeta Shells I brought back up from San Diego. After cooking it up, it still tasted just fine (and I did not suffer any gastrointestinal side effects). It's definitely given me more confidence in preparing the boxes of Hamburger Helper that I have which expired in '03.
