10,000 meters
The weather was great for participating in the Drop Top 10K in Hillsboro this morning. I went with three other folks to tackle this run: Vince (my good friend and former roommate from the Bay Area), Lisa (a friend from high school who is now interning at Intel), and Shelley (a friend from Intel). I'm not proud, but I am satisfied that I was able to finish the entire course at a steady jogging pace (pretty slow actually). The slowness is not too bad considering that the last time I've run any distance close to this was 4+ years ago (excuses, excuses). Plus, my "training" (notice the quotes) began less than 3 weeks ago and consisted of only 4 runs, the longest one on Sunday being only 3.1 miles in length. By ramping up from 1.5 miles (on Tuesday, May 24) to 6.2 miles (today), I managed to quadruple my running distance.
After the race, they provided plenty of liquid refreshments (I think I had like 20 small cups of Powerade), a free T-shirt, and a famous Helvetia burger (didn't look particularly special, but it turned out to be quite good).
 Before
After (don't worry, the girls finished, too.. they're just not in this particular picture)
