CLC'd
On Saturday, I attended the CMDA Western Regional Campus Leadership Conference (CLC), which was held here in Portland. Twenty-eight students were present from various schools including U. Washington, U. Hawaii, UC Davis, UCSF, UoP, U. Colorado, U. Arizona, and (of course) OHSU. It was great to be able to meet/greet and spend time with medical students from other campuses. Had that "small world" experience in meeting a 1st year student from Hawaii who is being discipled by a good friend/sister-in-Christ from church/college in Berkeley (she was quite pretty, though very tall, which made me all the more aware of my height-challenged status). As a part of the conference, there were interesting sessions and sharing by current physicians on medical ethics, campus evangelism, and other related topics. The conference concluded with dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory, which is located nicely on the water front (complete with a beautiful view). I had the "Potpourri" spaghetti that comes with four different sauces, my most favorite being the one depicted below (brown-butter and mizithra cheese):

Eugene'd
Headed down to Eugene and spent a good day hanging out with Oregon Duck and Superman (who got a super fare to visit O.D. this weekend). We attended worship service at First Baptist Church, then enjoyed Mongolian BBQ buffet at Jung's (only $6.95 per person!), and spent the afternoon watching "Law & Order: SVU" episodes. It was a nice and relaxing time. I drove home after having gourmet pizza for dinner. On the way back, the drive was "shortened" by getting to talk to Pocahontas, who provided some good company for the road.

Surgery'd
And now, next week has become this week.. and it's gonna be a doozy.. But something cool for tomorrow afternoon is that I'll get to be in the OR (operating room, not Oregon) to observe a spine surgery with my preceptor. I don't get to do anything except observe, but that's just fine with me. (Although, it's not likely,) I just hope that I get a chair or something to sit on so that I don't have to stand for 5 hours.
