Food For Thought
Fridge Averse
In the past week, my fridge has hurt me twice (or rather, I have hurt myself on it). First thing was when the top of my thumb got pinched/scraped in between the fridge and freezer door handles. That took off a tiny piece of skin. And then, after retrieving some items from the fruit/veggie drawer, I totally bumped my head hard on the bottom edge of the freezer door while standing up. Grr.. Maybe it's trying to tell me something, like, "Take that you punk! And stay away!" If I was more fridge averse, perhaps I would be persuaded to listen. It'll take a lot more than two minor inflictions to stop me..
Bac-er
I am a master bac-er (pronounced "bake-er"), one who excels at cooking (and eating) bac-on (it's truly an art to get them to come out just right.. crispy on the outside, slightly chewy on the inside, and fully-cooked throughout). In spite of my blindness (at first, I could't find the expiration date on the package and assumed that there was none), bacon is a perishable item. And thus, the bacon that's been sitting in my fridge for months has finally found a new home.. in me. Thick cut and delicious, a pound of bacon makes a hearty meal. Who says Atkins is dead?
There's something sweet And almost kind But he was mean and he was coarse and unrefined But now he's dear, and so unsure I wonder why I didn't see it there before
I'm gonna get me some Sweet Tomatoes tomorrow night. Among soup and salad buffet places, it's tops ("Fresh" Choice is stale in comparison). Unfortunately, the soup selection tomorrow isn't the best.. no corn chowder or New England clam chowder (I'm big on chowder). Oh well, I'll just have to make up for it by downing lots more Won Ton Chicken Happiness. Come on ride the train, the VEGGIE train!
