A Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On

East Meets West
As I sit here and give an account of the weekend happenings, I'm enjoying some baked goods. Not muffins or cookies, but rather, tater tots and fish sticks. Since they are so hot, I'm finding that chopsticks are quite useful for eating them (forks just rip things apart, and don't get me started on spoons). Good ol' American cuisine with a Chinese utensil.. cultures unite!

Matrimonious Gathering
This past weekend, I attended a wedding for some old friends from Chinese For Christ church in Berkeley. Like most weddings, it was a reunion of sorts, especially for those of us (me included) who have since left the Bay Area. The ceremony was quite nice. The bride and groom wrote their own vows, which was cool. At the risk of sounding uber-girly, I like seeing everybody all dressed up.

Here are some PICTURES from the wedding and reception.

During the reception, I decided to school the self-proclaimed "light-weight" drinker, Mr. An. I haven't yet concluded on whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I have quite the high tolerance. I guess it can come in handy.. either that, or it'll just end up costing me more to "drown my sorrows" (with alcohol).

Trekkies Unite
On Saturday night, Jerm, Jeff and I stayed up pretty late recounting STTNG (that's "Star Trek: The Next Generation") episodes to each other. Basically, we sat around and would think of any cool or interesting episodes we remembered, and if someone didn't have a good idea of what that episode was about, we'd go through and explain the plot for that episode. The conversation definitely had a nerd quotient that would be off the charts.

Eat-N-Out
Went out to eat with good friends for dinner on Sunday and then for lunch on Monday. Had a lovely time just hanging out with folks and catching up. I love basking in the community of familiarity and meaningful friendships. Food-wise, it turned out to be an ethnic weekend.. Japanese cuisine and Indian buffet. Here are some pics:

De-Myth-tified
In unveiling his newest creation, Superman exposed the fruits of his top secret (j/k) computer labor: his very own MythTV box. For TV lovers (like myself), it's really quite an amazing thing. After dinner on Sunday night, a bunch of us got a cool demonstration of the features and benefits of the device. More than just a programmable recorder, it has the ability to cut out commercials and serve as a back-end server to provide his entire apartment with access to the goodies in his digital library of entertainment. And with two tuners hooked up to satellite TV feeds, he can record two programs simultaneously with excellent quality. Cool stuff!

Driven
I feel powerless without a car. Being in the area, transportationless, I just wanted to say thanks to everybody who helped to shuttle me around from place to place (specifically, thanks to Niki, Jerm, Danny, Noah, and Pocahontas!).

It's a Small World
I can't remember the last time I was actually awake for an airplane flight (probably because there wasn't one, and if there was, I fell asleep and made it no longer one that I could count). Anyway, at the airport, I happened to be on the same flight as a friend of Jenn's who works at Intel. It was pretty cool talking to her during the trip because before I knew it, we were on our descent towards the Portland Airport. It really made the flight pass by quite quickly.

While the Panjo blogger commenting system is down, I'll be using the built-in Blogger one. Just testing it out here..

the weekend/wedding was fun huh! :)

it was very fun!

Hi Albert. Hope you're doing well. I eat just about everything with chopsticks. The weirdest thing I eat with chopsticks is Flaming Hot Cheetos so my fingers won't get dyed red. =P
