WIRD
..the Week In Review, Dude
When Albert Met David
Harry Burns: There are two kinds of women: high maintenance and low maintenance.
Sally Albright: Which one am I?
Harry Burns: You're the worst kind. You're high maintenance but you think you're low maintenance.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harry Burns: The fact that you're not answering leads me to believe that (a) You're not home, (b) You're home but you don't want to talk to me, or (c) You're home, desperately want to talk to me, but you're trapped under something heavy. If it's either (a) or (c), please give me a call. David and I - just the two of us guys - watched "When Harry Met Sally," one of the original romantic comedies starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan (she used to look pretty cute back then), on Wednesday night because neither of us had seen it before. Full of quippy dialogue, it was quite an entertaining movie. Guys can like romantic comedies, too. FYI, David and I are straight. Even though he did spend the night in my room, but on the floor.
Toyotathon
Negotiating for a car is a strange process. I don't trust car salespeople. Like when they talk about invoice prices or offering to include extra options "at cost." My problem is, though, that I'd like to trust them. Anyway, our old Lexus broke down a couple of weeks ago, and since the price of repairing it is quite high, my mom decided to get a new car for my brother to drive. For cost, reliability, and fuel considerations, we ended up with a desert sand mica-colored Toyota Corolla. I think it's a pretty nice car, even though my brother seems to prefer the old Lexus over it.
Cutie pie
Babies here, babies there.. babies, babies everywhere! Saw another baby (less than 2 weeks old) on Sunday night that is the new son of one of my cousins. He was pre tty big (9 lbs), and he could sort of already hold his head up. Plus, he seemed to be very responsive to interaction by smiling and making other funny facial expressions. So cute..
Peeking duck
There's a Chinese restaurant in San Diego that has a great deal on Peking duck. Sixteen dollars will get you a two-course serving, the first part featuring duck skin with small buns and the second part consisting of minced duck meat wrapped in lettuce leaves. It's probably the best thing on the menu. So good, that our family of four went deja vu and ordered it twice!
Tennis hand
Hearing the rain outside makes me glad that I got in a morning of tennis on Monday with my brother before the storm arrived. Without having played in a while, my tennis muscles have been neglected. While my elbows show little sign of wear, my arms got a decent workout from the ~2 hours of rallying we did. The proof is in my hand, more specifically, the meat of my thumbs which are both tender and sore.
Tapped out
To say one is "tapped out" usually means that they are out of resources or whatnot. Under such circumstances, it's reasonable that a good friend would spot you to buy a drink or something. Vince is that type of friend. Although, I wasn't short on cash, he was just being nice. But I was consequently "tapped out" in light of our meeting up and conversing over some quality boba at Tapioca Express.
Shortcut
Lightened the load on top of my head by losing several ounces of hair. It's been a while since my hair's been short. The directions I gave to the barber, "same style, but shorter - much shorter." Done and done.
