Outer Space

This weekend, I figure that I spent more time outside doing social things than the average medical student ought to. On Friday night, we had our "Med School Prom," which, despite its moniker, did not resemble a high school dance. Rather, it was a fairly upbeat affair more akin to going to a lounge with a bar and dancing. It was while sitting at home watching NBA basketball at 9pm that I decided at the last minute to go (the event started at 9pm and ran until 1am). The atmosphere was cool, and I got to get my groove on. My strange thought of the night was that most of the girls that I ended up dancing with around me had significant others in the form of boyfriends or even husbands that, in many cases, were non-present.

Saturday night, I headed out with a couple of friends for dinner and a movie. Before the movie, we hit up this Bali restaurant where I enjoyed some pan-fried noodles with this delicious glazed/seared chicken. During dinner, the topic of conversation happened to center around relationships and stuff, so this girl asked me what I looked for in a girl. I realized that I didn't have a good sense of my "ideal girl." For me, attraction is more something that I can best describe in retrospect. Anyway, I concluded by saying that I was not, in fact, "looking" because my heart was really still in the Bay Area. After dinner, we watched Ocean's 12, a movie that I enjoyed. Despite the lack of intricacy in the plot (at least in comparison to Ocean's 11), the characters were played well and the situations quite funny.

One of my classmates opened up her apartment (a really nice two-bedroom place she lives in, by herself!) for a post-Thanksgiving turkey dinner gathering. There were probably about 15 people there to enjoy a homecooked meal and just hang out a bit. The food was good, and it was a nice and relaxing time. I brought a case of Budweiser as my contribution, but as it turns out, I ended up taking it home when I left because she doesn't drink beer. I guess I'll have to enjoy the king of beers all by myself. Might as well get started now. (Don't worry, I wouldn't drink all 12 in one sitting.. that'd be way too many calories.)
