Hip-hoppin' Holidays
Friends to-go!
To help with my ~36 hours of long distance driving this winter break, I decided to rip the audio tracks from three seasons of Friends episodes I have on my computer (seasons 5 through 7, which are arguably the funniest ones) and put them onto my mp3 player in my car. Without a video player of any sort, I figured this was the next best thing. After all, I've watched the episodes enough times to be able to visualize what's going on from just hearing the show. Friends: a tv show good enough to enjoy even without actually "seeing" it.
Party hopping
Arriving in the Bay Area on Saturday afternoon, I had the chance to pay visits to two separate parties going on. The LSF North fellowship and the LSCC church were both having Christmas gatherings that evening. It was great to see familiar faces again.. not surprisingly, it seems like a lot of things have happened in the past 4 months. Got a case of yellow fever, too (seeing more Asians in two days than I saw the whole time I've been in Oregon).
Baby boom
Babies sure are cute. Boy babies AND girl babies. Saw a couple of newborns this past weekend that were real heart-melters. Makes me want to get one, too. I wouldn't even mind skipping a whole bunch of steps to make that happen. Just kidding..
Home theatre
Jerm just recently moved into his new house in Union City. I had the chance to stay there for a couple of nights while in the Bay Area. It was very well-furnished considering that he had only been there for a couple of weeks, complete with comfy couches (brought up from his parents house in San Diego) and a nice n' big Sony tv. I got to watch two movies on Sunday night from his DVD collection that I had yet to view: "Alex & Emma" and "The Italian Job." I would rate both movies quite highly. Alex & Emma for its creative writing and humor; The Italian Job for its "fun factor" (a completely subjective measure used when other descriptors of entertainment value are not readily apparent).
Huggies
A shout out for hugs. Hugs are great. Nuff said.
Car escentuals
While driving down to SoCal with the Architect, we encountered some interesting smells. At one point, she detected what she described as, "chickens and poop." Turns out we were following behind a truck full of pigs. They truly do wallow in their own filth.. dirty dirty animals.. good thing bacon comes from the inside of pigs. After that, we came upon a stretch of freeway where it smelled distinctly like almond jello. Unlikely as it may be, we surmised that there could've been an Asian jello factory of some sort hidden in the hills (even though almond jello is always sold as mix rather than finished product).
Til' I drop
Hit up the mall with my brother this afternoon for some last minute shopping. On our way, we encountered an accident on the freeway. I decided to exit and find another way to the mall. In the winding process, somehow we discovered a shortcut to the Mission Bay (where Sea World is). After much perusing, I managed to pick up some quality items that I hope my family will enjoy. If only I had more mulah..
Don't forget, Jesus is the reason for the season.. Merry Christmas!!
