Handsome Role
Last Friday, I had an excellent opportunity to watch my preceptor remove some papillomas from the vocal cords of a patient using laser excision and microlaryngoscopy. I was definitely the youngest and least trained person in the operating room. The registered nurse (RN) was like, "are you a resident?" I took that as a compliment.. Not only did I get to watch the procedure, but I also participated in it as well. My job was quite minor, involving just my hand to hold a part of the neck to expose the vocal cords better under the scope. My preceptor said I had steady hands (good for surgery!).
