Down with the Oregon Duck

Drove down the I-5 and spent a pleasant day with the Oregon Duck and Superman in Eugene. After being deterred by waiting lines at three breakfast places, we ended up at a nice European-style deli called Metropol for a meal before church. Service at First Baptist Church was good. The pastor spoke on Galatians 5:16-26, regarding the internal war that believers face between their sinful nature vs. a Spirit-led life. We met up with OD's friends after the service, and within a couple of hours from breakfast, we ended up going to a place called Johnny Ocean's Grill for lunch with them. Making a pit-stop at OD's apartment, we then headed off to Spencer's Butte (pronounced "beaut" like "beauty," not "but" like "butt"), which is pretty much like a big hill or small mountain. As we hiked up, it was kind of muddy, but the trek was worth it as we got a great 360 degree view of the area for miles away. Here's a pic of us at the top:

A View From Above

The next activity would be another bout of eating, but this time, dinner at a nice little Italian restaurant near where OD lives. While the service wasn't the best (it didn't help that we were seated in a low traffic area), the food was quite good. OD gave us a tour of her department building, including a peek at her office, the lab, and the testing room (complete with remote-controlled, semi-hidden cameras). Before leaving to head back up to Portland, we started watching "Desperate Housewives," a scandalous (although notably popular) show. Oh my, how the weekend has passed quite quickly. And now, it's back to the races for me (i.e. classes, studying, etc.).
