Baby Got Back

I'm not a baby, but I got back, too. Back in the Bay Area, that is. I took a trip back to the Bay Area this past weekend to witness Steve & Elena's joyous union in the bonds of marriage. At the same time, I had the great opportunity to see and spend time with good friends.

On Friday night, I attended the wedding rehearsal and got to catch up with people at the dinner that followed. Multi-course Chinese meals are very appetizing. The next morning, Superman, Wenge, Pocahontas and I enjoyed a yummy brunch at IHOP. (Apparently, being on "vacation" for me also translates into taking a break from my strict diet by having lots of good food.) After heading back, we watched the first half of the Cal vs. USC football game, to our own disappointment as Cal fell behind 10-16 before we left for the wedding.

The wedding was very nice, just as the occasion ought to be. Seeing everybody dressed up is always a fine sight. The girls look pretty while the guys look slick. Following a delectable dinner, a cute slideshow, a funny toast by the best man (Jerm), and some newly-wed games, the night was concluded with a time of dancing.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a belated birthday gift from some thoughtful friends, who pitched in to get me some mooncakes and a giftcard to Footlocker. Wanting to get some new running shoes, it turned out to be just what the doctor ordered. Your generous sentiments are not unappreciated.. =)

On Sunday, I visited Living Stones Christian Church for the first time, a new church in Milpitas launched by brothers and sisters from the LSF young adult fellowship. Afterward, a group of us hit up Yoshinoya for the best beef bowls, period. It's so good that I even contemplated ordering another one and bringing it back with me to Oregon on the plane.

Coming back last night was a sad ordeal. But during my trip, I did come to the realization that I am quite blessed in my current situation. I have the great opportunity to pursue my career goals, despite being separated from my close friends. God has been very good to me, putting me in a good place and giving me good support.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are some pics from the wedding.. enjoy!
