Weekend Update

Online and Revived

Finally got my internet/cable tv set-up on Saturday morning. Tuned in to as much Olympics as I could (so sad, that's it's pretty much over as I sit here and watch the closing ceremony performances). It's nice, though, because they are showing all of these great highlights from the past two weeks, which helps me feel like I'm caught up. On a side note, I've also seen a couple episodes of MacGyver on the TV Land channel (a channel that I didn't get in the Bay Area). The availability of entertainment variety has been both fun and gratifying.

Besides being a TV/internet junkie, I also finished setting up my apartment. I posted pictures at Imagestation here.

Saturday night, I went to a BBQ that was put on by the 2nd year med students. Good highlight: getting to meet some 2nd years that offered a good perspective about their 1st year experiences. Bad hightlight: dropping my hot link off my plate onto the ground and then spilling my beer while picking it up, with a dog eating my bun (the hot link was salvageable, though).

Churching

This morning, I visited a church recommended by a friend of Christine's. I missed the 9:15am service and instead went to the 11:00am one. It was a pretty cool church featuring contemporary worship and a diverse congregation. The message on growing our enthusiasm for God was delivered by an entertaining (and theologically sound) young Vietnamese-American guy (he was a guest speaker). I'm still looking around, but this church seemed like a good place to worship and hear God's word.

Fruit and Fibre(less)

On Friday night, I had McDonald's. With $1 Filet-o-Fishes on Fridays, I just couldn't resist. That said, I totally need more fiber in my diet. Although I've been cooking some good pastas (fettucine alfredo with chicken) and baking some caseroles (with either tuna, turkey, or beef), my meals demonstrate a lack of fruits/vegetables.

Disconnected

Either Amazon or T-Mobile is being ghetto slow in shipping my new cell phone. It was supposed to ship last Thursday, but it's been postponed until sometime between 9/1 and 9/3. I'd like to be able to call people again without having to pay a whopping $0.69/minute.
