Flat Out Fortunate

To the Bay Area I returned today via Camry. It seems that I'm bound to have some sort of issue when I travel long distances by automobile. Today's little mishap consisted of a flat tire. I didn't really notice it until I decided to stop at a rest area to use the bathroom at which point I saw that my left rear tire was very flat. At first, I was thinking "just great" (sarcastically, of course). But ironically, it was a good thing that it happened because it reminded me that I need to replace my two rear tires (they're the original ones I've had since I bought the car 50,000 miles ago). Two general comments about the situation: 1) Thank God that the tire didn't explode (like it usually does) or melted (it was 100+ degrees while driving up to the Bay Area today), causing a potentially dangerous situation on the freeway. 2) Props to Toyota for designing a car that can travel (quite smoothly I must add) at 75-80 mph on a FLAT tire (the only difference in ride quality was when I was braking, the car would vibrate more than usual).
