Tolerance
(for Disclaimer, see "Higher-Update" below)
Wine can be good for you. Studies show that drinking a glass of red wine can help to reduce your risk of getting heart disease. I happened to have a bottle of Merlot at home. After my roommate and I had a nice lobster tortelloni with sherry sauce dinner while watching the latest episode of Friends ("The One With The Birth Mother"), I decided to open this (pretty) nice bottle of wine. It was a 2001, private reserve, Kendall-Jackson Merlot red wine featuring black cherry and plum flavors. It tasted pretty good. Consequently, I've drank most of the bottle. Of course, this doesn't exactly help me with heart disease, but I have discovered that I have a pretty high tolerance for alcohol. By downing the bottle of wine (minus half a glass for my roomie), I have had the equivalent of 22.4 ounces of wine. At 13.5% per volume alcohol, that's about 3 ounces of alcohol. That's the equivalent of about 4.5 drinks (depending on body weight, ~2.5-3.0 drinks puts you over the legal limit to drive). I don't feel particularly affected by it. Even my roommate says I seem normal and am not red in the face. With this tolerance for exogenous drugs, I wonder whether medications/prescriptions will be helpful to me if I was to need them in the future.. scary..
I do feel a little numb (muscularly), so to take advantage, I'm using my Total Body Works 5000 and exercising a bit. I feel like I can do more reps now, which is good for me. No pain, no gain doesn't necesarily apply at the moment..
Update: I slept very well last night. Even better than if I had taken Nyquil (which I wouldn't, because I'm not sick).
(Higher-Up)date: This post is definitely not an endorsement/encouragement for people to drink excessively. Things aforementioned applies to myself and should not be attempted without proper supervision. Please don't go out and do random stuff.. Know your limits and stay within them, people!
