Home Gym
I've always believed that I should just buy a good home gym instead of forking out the money for monthly/annual dues for a gym membership (like 24-Hour Fitness). Mainly because 1) it's more convenient to exercise at home and 2) for my money, I would get to own an actual piece of equipment.
The Total Gym (the one advertised by Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley) is OK, but I didn't think it was that cool. When the Bowflex first came out, that became the first one that I actually wanted, but with a price tag of over $1000, I couldn't really spring for it. More recently, there's an imitator called "The Crossbow" by Weider which is similar to a Bowflex, though it's priced more affordably at $599.
On a whim, I went out last night to Sportmart looking for some work-out equipment. I was seriously considering plunking down my credit card and spending big. Buying from a brick-and-mortar store is definitely better than online in this case because shipping costs for these large/heavy items is ridiculous (close to $100). Somewhere along the line, though, my frugality hit me and I decided against purchasing one for the time being. I didn't go home empty handed, though. Instead of a home gym, I came back with a box of Target-brand, 30 gallon trashbags (random tangent: just like McNuggets, they down-sized the package and kept the price the same.. for my $4.49, I used to get 35 bags per box, but now I only get 28 bags.. they tried to be sneaky but I caught them because the actual tag on the shelf still says "35 ct 30 gal trash bags".. and I confirmed it when I went home and looked at the old box of trashbags we had, which indeed, contained 35 bags) and a 12-pack of Vanilla Coke in a special holiday-decorated box.
Here's where you come in.. do you think it is wise for me to invest in some good/expensive work-out equipment? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
