Money Saving Coupons
I recently got ahold of some coupons I could use to save some money. Sportmart is having a grand opening for their new store in Union City, so I had flyer for $20 off a $50 or more purchase. And online, I found a 50% off your entire purchase at a Rockport/Reebok concept store. So, today, I was on a quest to get some new shoes. I have a decent number of pairs that I wear, but they are all pretty old and worn. Some of them I've had for more than 4 years. Like my Vans and my Rockports. The soles are smoother like a baby's butt, but not as soft.
Going to the Sportmart, while the prices weren't bad (and with a coupon they'd be even better), I found the selection to be quite paltry. I want to get a pair of Nike tennis shoes, but they only had 3 to choose from (and not very good ones). Perusing the skate shoes department, the styles (once again) were quite lacking. I was tempted to buy this pair of Airwalks because the box said they were "mouse" colored.
Coming from worship practice in Berkeley, my plan was to head over to SF on my way home and hit up the Rockport store after lunch today because the Rockport coupon I had was only good at "concept stores." So, what exactly is a concept store? To me, it seems like it's just another name for a store dedicated to only selling Rockport brand stuff. Implicit in this definition, though, is the idea that there is only 1 in the region, making it less convenient to visit. Seeing the traffic heading towards SF and thinking about the street parking (or paid structure parking) situation ended up deterring me from going to the Rockport store. Plus, I didn't want to deal with the crowds of weekend shoppers.
So, to recap, I started the day with two coupons and no new shoes. I ended the day with the same two coupons and no new shoes. Indirectly because of the coupons, I didn't buy any shoes today. These coupons were so powerful as to help me save 100% of the purchase price by preventing the transaction from occurring in the first place. Money saving!
