Hello!!
..from New Orleans. Right now, I'm at the "business center" (a small room on the first floor equipped with a single computer and a printer) at the hotel we're staying at. Man, this internet connection is slow.
So far, haven't been up to much. Went to an all-day seminar on "Nicotine and Parkinson's Disease." Compounded by the time change, I've been up since 5am (Pacific time) this morning. Tonight, we'll be going to watch Matrix Revolutions at the IMAX Theatre. Amazingly, it's only $10 here (as opposed to $19 at the Sony Metreon IMAX in SF). I'll get to see/meet some of Melody's UCSF buddies.
Anyway, I'm just writing to say "hi." I might not be updating during the trip, but expect a recap when I get back next week. But before I go, a couple of general comments:
1) New Orleans is quite humid.
2) Downtown smells like sewage (reminiscent of the Taiwan-feel), which is probably related to the humidity.
3) Our hotel room is so small, and decently far from the convention center. I guess that's the price you pay for, well, paying less for your room.
4) It's going to be a long week, but hopefully, I'll get to sample some good food and get some fun in during this work-related trip.
5) Happy (early) Birthday, Chia! Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to your celebration (for obvious reasons). I wish you the best, though! =)
