Crispy vs Crunchy?

While having a second lunch (the first one was at church) with Pocahontas, JT, and the "money" couple at Wendy's, we got into the conversation of discussing the distinction between things that are crispy versus things that are crunchy. In my mind, the difference was quite clear, but for others it wasn't as much. For example, I would never talk about eating some "crunchy Wheat Thins crackers" or having myself a "deliciously crisp Chips Ahoy! cookie." To me, the difference can even be manifested in the same food item, just with varying degrees of cooking, like in bacon. How is that possible? Lightly cooked makes it so that only the outside is fried, and the bacon should be fairly crispy. If you have thicker cuts of bacon and/or you fry it longer, you end up having crunchy bacon. Isn't pork amazing?

My entire explanation is not dictionary-based, though. If you look it up, crispy is defined as being "Firm but easily broken or crumbled; crisp." Crunchy isn't very far off, though, being defined as "Making a crunching or cracking sound, as when chewed; crisp: crunchy fresh vegetables."

Anyway, I usually prefer things to be crunchy, because that means it has been fried for longer giving it even more flavour to go along with its hardy exterior texture.
