Random Update

Lots been going on lately. So, this will be a fairly disordered post about random happenings..

Last Friday, had a small gathering around my hood when Pocahontas, JT, and Mr. Razzle came over for dinner and some fun. We ended up going down to Cupertino, a great place for Chinese cuisine. Had dinner at A&J's, where they have good pai gu fan (pork chop rice) and neoh roh mien (beef noodle soup). Pocahontas loves tendon (so much that she prefers it over actual MEAT). I don't get it.. but to each their own.. heh Afterwards, we walked around the shopping area a bit before leaving. Being in the mood for some sports, we headed to the Malibu fun center and hit up the batting cages, where Pocahontas had a pretty impressive skills.

On Sunday, a group of us went biking in SF again. This time, we took on the Golden Gate Bridge. Lemme just say that the bridge was no match for us. To celebrate, I had my favorite chicken wings at Hooters. Deep fried and served up by friendly waitresses. But not everybody was keen on the Hoo-hoo idea, so the other people dined on In-N-Out.

Operation Christmas Child is coming up on Saturday. While at Target with Pocahontas, I picked up some toys I think the kids are gonna have some fun with.. a Nerf football and the "board game" Uno Stacko (it's a mix between Uno and Jenga).

Just went bowling last night with Pocahontas and we saw Superman and DKCwenge there. Superman had this awesome game where he had 5 strikes in a row. They played a lot. Where we only played 4 games, they played 10. I have this theory that the some pins are heavier than others, and since they get shuffled throughout the bowling alley, the ones you get vary from frame to frame, making it difficult to get consistent pin action. Anyway, I was bowling OK. Pocahontas was doing very well, too. She scored over 100 on every game, with spares and strikes here and there. At one point, one of the guys in the lane next to us (no, not Superman or DKC) was commenting, "how do you keep doing that?" (referring to her ability to accurately get spares). He actually made the same comment two or three times. I get the feeling that he was trying to pick up on her.. hehe

I've heard back from 3 schools so far for admissions interviews. One is coming up at UC Davis on November 13, and the other two are in January (New York Med in New York on the 27th and Drexel in Philadelphia on the 29th).

What's colorful, poster-sized, and worth $90? My neuroscience poster that I'll be presenting next week in New Orleans. I finished it up earlier this week and got it printed up at Kinko's. It's huge.. Now I'm working on the manuscript for the research paper on the information I will be presenting. It's my first opportunity for publication. I hope my paper doesn't end up being "widely discredited" like Ross' from Friends (that was a funny episode, if you remember it).
