Biking
Biking on Saturday was fun. A bunch of us had breakfast at a cafe in Emeryville in the morning, then headed off to Golden Gate Park in SF for the ride. After a couple of minor setbacks, we were on our way and having fun. We didn't cover that many miles, but that's because we were making stops along the way, taking pictures, and enjoying the sites. We rode from one side of the park all the way out the other side and to the beach. Coming back, we took a different route and hit some other sites. Notable things we saw included the archery range, the huge windmill thing, seeing the lake with ducks and paddle boaters, and the view of the beach from above.
I am thankful that I didn't get seriously injured when I had an accident. According to Pocahontas, I did a 270 (flipping forward) with the bike after stopping very suddenly while approaching an intersection from a downhill street. My palms/wrist absorbed most of the impact, and I also struck the inside of my right knee. Although I consider myself pretty durable, I should still be more careful. One of these days, I'm going to end up handicapping myself. This incident reminds me of my wipe-out on the slopes during the Tahoe trip we went on earlier this year. While trying to do a jump on a steep, black diamond slope, my ski tip caught on some snow causing me to land incorrectly. That accident also included flipping, but according to Mr. Razzle, it was actually a 720 (or two flips around), and onto snow. He thought I was dead as I layed there. I was dazed, but had suffered no real injuries. Anyway, I reiterate, that I'm thankful that God has taken care of me. I can picture both of those scenarios turning out much worse, but they didn't, which is good.
Consequently, my body is painful in different ways. My wrists are aching from the fall. My butt bone is tender from riding on Superman's unforgiving bike seat. And my pecs, lats, and traps (different muscle groups in my upper body) are still sore from working out on Friday night.
Afterwards, we had a hearty, meat-packed dinner at Harris Ranch steakhouse. Fairly expensive, but the atmosphere was nice and the beef was good (all kinds.. prime rib, steak, etc.). Since we had a large party, we even got to have our own private dining room.
