(Mini) Shopping Spree

Taking a look at the ads in the Sunday newspaper, I saw a couple of deals I couldn't resist. I have had some of the same khakis for way too long. One pair of pants is from my junior year of high school, and the other is from freshman year in college. I'm really into Dockers. They are good blend of quality (just look how long my previous pairs have lasted) and STYLE (ok, this is subjective). It's about time I upgraded them, though, especially since the bottoms are fraying on my darker pair, while the lighter pair suffers from a puncture wound on the front-side of the right thigh (part of the CFC drum set poked me while I was helping the worship team clean up after church one Sunday). Anyway, Mervyn's had those cool new "Go-Khaki Stain Defender" pants on sale for $31.99. I was tempted to buy two pairs, but nah.. I can't splurge too much (those darn med school apps are quite costly). So, my new Dockers are wrinkle-free, stain resistant, and comfy. Nice!

In addition, I checked out the Target ad and saw a couple of items. I'm on my last bar of soap and have been for a while. Two weeks ago, I clipped a coupon for $0.75 off 4 or more bars of Dove (the soap I use). Luckily, I found that Dove was on sale at Target, 3 packs of 4-bars for $10 (but since having TWELVE bars of soap is excessive, I decided to only get one pack of 4, which cost $3.33). Combined with the coupon, each of the 4 bars ended up being only $0.65. Considering I can use the same bar for about 1 month, my soap usage is a mere $0.02 per day. Nice!

When I came back from home, my mom gave me several things (besides a hug goodbye): two dress-shirts and a pack of underwear. I used to have more pairs of socks than pairs of underwear, meaning the underwear was the limiting factor for how long I could last without doing laundry. To even things up, I bought a 6-pack of Hanes Premium socks at Target, on sale for $6.99. Now, I will run out of underwear and socks at approximately the same time, which is close to 3.5 weeks. Nice!
