Weekend Update

On Saturday, I had good barbecued meats at Armadillo Willy's with Vince and Judy. The beef brisket sandwich is delicious. Afterwards, we watched the movie Bruce Almighty starring Jim Carrey and (one of my favorite actresses) Jennifer Aniston. Funny funny film. What I liked about Jennifer Aniston's character Grace was that she was very faithful, loving, and supportive. Cute, too. Although the theology wasn't particularly accurate, one part did catch my attention where Bruce is trying to get his girlfriend Grace back after having messed up and he says:

Bruce Nolan: How do you make someone love you without changing free will?
God: Welcome to my world.

It's a tough thing for people to do, but God is able to bring anyone closer to Himself, mainly through His love.

Sunday was pretty packed/eventful. I taught Sunday school for the first time. This summer, I'm leading a class on faith. The goal is to help describe what Christians believe and why we believe. I think it went pretty smoothly. I hope that people will be able to learn and grow from this experience. I'm actually taping the class because Christy wants to be able to hear it, but she can't attend because she takes care of the kids during Sunday school time. I'm trying to be natural about it, but being taped does make me a bit more self-conscious.

Since we had to serve/clean-up lunch at chuch, some of us got to Jenn's graduation (Congratulations, Jenn!) at Stanford really really late, missing the entire ceremony, but in time to see her and take some pictures. It was a beautiful day, but oh so hot. It must've been painful for those people to be sitting in the sun the whole time.

Afterwards, we headed to Josh's house to hang out before dinner. I'm about two shades darker than I was on Friday because we ended up playing "sports" outside. Frances and Josh played a 2-on-2 b-ball game against Jonathan and me. To even things up a bit, the rule was that only Frances could run while the rest of us could only walk. Frances was pretty good. Her outside shooting wasn't great, but she could take the ball in for lay-ups. The next game was Strikeout, using a big plastic bat and a small whiffle ball. It's like a modified version of baseball. Fun stuff. I scored 7 runs in an inning. Cynthia wasn't so hot at the batting (but it could be because of the high wind factor).

Dinner with the Hwangs (Jenn and parents) was nice. We ate at the Lucky Palace (Jenn and I both thought it was called Lucky Seafood, but we were getting it confused with a supermarket in San Diego). Cuisine was ok, with plenty of seafood entrees (perhaps they should be "Lucky Seafood"). But we got to drink soda. Mmm.. I really enjoy soda. While growing up, we never got to order soda at Chinese restaurants. Here, they just put 2-liter bottles and a bucket of ice on the table.

After going home, I just relaxed. I was beat. The fact that the NBA Finals is over is sad. A Game 7 would've been nice.
