Praise the Lord: MCAT (Semi)-Success

I took the MCAT in April, which was approximately 8 weeks ago. That meant I should be finding out how I did on the test about now. Which happened to be true, because the scores are available online at their website. Now, I'm not one of those who is very eager to find out my test scores, at least not these days. Especially, since I found out that scores were out yesterday (which was a Wednesday), I figured that I didn't want to spoil the rest of my week by knowing my score right away. In my mind, I planned to wait until Saturday to check. But curiosity got the best of me, and after praying throughout the day about it, I was ready to receive whatever score I had earned on the test (be it good or bad). So, I checked my score last night after I got home from attending the summer Crossroads Bible pre-study (led by DavidYoung) and having a late night snack (it was his dinner) with Jerm in Oakland Chinatown (sidenote: it's been SO hot lately.. it must've been 80-something degrees.. you know something's wrong when you have to use AIR-CONDITIONING while driving home at MIDNIGHT).

Thanks to God, my composite score turned out to be 1 point higher than last time. My verbal score dropped 1 point, but my biological sciences score improved by 2 (statistically, each 2 points is a standard deviation, roughly). I'm slowly redeeming myself in the biological science field as I do research and did better on that section of the test. Although I did pretty well on my writing samples last time, they were actually better somehow this time (in the 99.6th percentile). I attribute some of that top notch performance to the writing "practice" I get with having a blog. In summary, I did pretty much as I had expected, but not as good as I had hoped.

It's truly amazing since I really did not study as much as I should have, or even as much as I did for it the first time I took it. I still need to work on my primary apps and get those turned in, but this is where God's provision and control of the situation is instilling more confidence in me and giving me hope about this whole medical school endeavor.
