Flats

Flat tires are no fun. In my old car (Ford Taurus), I had the opportunity to experience a flat tire not once, not twice, not thrice, but FOUR times. Interestingly, it was the same driver-side, front tire that would either explode or end up getting punctured somehow. In getting rid of that car, I thought my troubles would be over. And they were, for a while (6 months). But yesterday afternoon sometime, I ended up getting a small screw in my right rear tire, causing it to leak and flatten out. Some of my co-workers noticed it while we were hanging out at his apartment in Foster City. Luckily, he also had a pump to inflate the tire enough for me to drive home and swap it with my spare. Having a full-size spare is nice, because when you put it on, it looks exactly the same as your regular tire (not like those bicycle-tire-sized donuts which some spare tires look like). After a long morning at the dealership, my car has received some minor service and the tire was fixed (for a small fee). Reflecting on this tire thing makes me think that there are some types of trouble I just can't avoid. I'm just glad there were nice people around to help and that the tire didn't blow up while I was on the road (which, if you imagine, can be fairly dangerous).
