Girls = Evil?
If you haven't read this good post by PrincessJane already, then you've been missing out. It's a really good perspective on what and why girls do the things they do (to guys, that is).
I agree with most of what is mentioned, except for the fact that girls are evil. I don't think that they are evil.. they are just subject to human nature. And a big part of human nature is to be selfish. To be clear, it's not that I think girls are more selfish than guys (because they totally aren't), but for a guy to get in a relationship, he has to take a big step out of the boundaries of selfishness (i.e. spending time and doing stuff with - and for - the girl) before the girl will even consider him. It is only after the guy has initiated in some fashion that the ball moves to the girl's court. Now, she has the ability to reject or accept him, which is up to her own discretion. A lot of times, the motivation behind what choice she actually makes is something I would consider a temporal selfishness. A girl definitely has the prerogative to do as she pleases, but in consideration for the guy, there would hopefully be a better resolution to the situation than what actually transpires in many cases. Things need not end in devastation. Unfortunately, this happens a lot to "nice guys." She'll probably base her decision in light of her current needs, desires, and circumstances. I stress the "current" because stuff can change (and usually does) over time, and the guy could eventually be given a chance. So, things can turn out decently well in the end, but only through some degree of dejection (from the girl's rejection).
I'll leave the girls with the following admonition: Guys may be able to overpower you on the outside, but be aware of how much power you wield over them on the inside. Try not to be a stumbling block for them, especially if you are conscious of it. Guys can only take so much before they get really messed up.
And to the guys.. hang in there. There is a light at the end of the tunnel (don't worry, it's not the train coming at 100mph to smack you down). And that light will be when you get your rib back, better than new because it comes wrapped in a suitable, beautiful girl.
"Then the LORD God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.' Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said,
'This is now bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.'
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." (Genesis 2:18-24)
