The Other Side

I have too many random driving stories. Here's another one from just two nights ago..

Going home after helping to paint Joje's (Josh/Jenny's) fence, I crossed the Dumbarton Bridge as usual. After you get off the bridge, there's an intersection which allows you to turn left onto Willow Rd. and get on the I-101 freeway. There are two left turn lanes, which turn onto two separate lanes on Willow. Willow has four lanes, two in each direction, separated by a concrete divider. As I approached the light (which was green at the time), I entered the far left lane to get onto Willow. At the time, there was a Ford Explorer and some other car in the other left turn lane. The guy in the Explorer must not have: 1) seen me, or 2) realize that he was supposed to finish his left turn in the right lane on Willow (from his left turn lane). As a result, he turned into my lane! I was turning pretty fast at the time, so all I could do was swerve out of his way. But where did that take me? I dodged the concrete divider, but ended up on the other side of the road (the side with traffic moving the other way). Fortunately, there weren't any cars in those lanes yet. Now I was thinking, "can I make it far enough to where the concrete divider ends (to get back on the right side of the road) before I encounter other cars?" The answer turned out to be "no" as I saw cars approaching about a quarter mile away from another traffic light. So, I bust a U and end up back at the intersection of the Dumbarton and Willow. To help clarify, here's a little diagram:

Perhaps I should think about getting more car insurance..
