Ever just go on "auto-pilot" while you've driving? As it turns out, I'm a pretty functional driver when I'm talking on the phone. I can handle the stop-n-go of traffic, I can check my blindspot and change lanes, and I even slow down in the event of seeing a CHP (California Highway Patrol) or police car. Usually, I end up at my destination without really remembering anything about my trip at all. Usually. Yesterday night on my way home from LSF, while talking to Frances on the phone, my auto-pilot kicked in. Unfortunately, what happened was I ended up getting back onto the Dumbarton Bridge going east towards Union City (I live in Redwood City, which is on the peninsula-side off the I-101). I had just dropped off Jenn at Stanford and I guess it was pre-programmed in my brain that after I leave Stanford I'm usually on my way to fellowship. Not the case this time. My stupidity consequently cost me 35 minutes, a couple bucks of gas, and an extra $2 in bridge toll (I decided to take the San Mateo Bridge instead).
