Yay! My new shoes came in yesterday afternoon, and as soon as I got home, I slashed the box open (a la my S/W S.W.A.T. tactical pocket knife..er, I mean "keychain"..this reminds me of this past summer when Jeremy, JennShao, Kat, and I went to Magic Mountain. To maintain the fun atmosphere, they search you for weapons as you enter. Lo and behold, I have my keys attached, as usual, to a pretty large knife. Fortunately, Jenn had a bag and was nice enough to hide it in there. Unfortunately, when her bag was scanned, the metal detector went off, which makes sense since there was a KNIFE in there. The guy asks to check the contents of the bag, and she takes out my keys. Meanwhile, Jerm, Kat, and I have already passed the checkpoint and are standing about 10 feet away, so Jenn is standing there by herself, being searched. I felt bad. The picks up the knife and asks, "what is this doing in there?" Jenn responds, "umm..it's a keychain." The guy is looking at her kinda funny, and so I jump in and say in agreement, "yeah, it's just a keychain." He looks at the both of us, we both smile, and then he says, "ok" and waves us along. Whew..close call! Sorry if you were embarassed, Jenn!), removed the paper wads in the toes (of the shoes), laced them up, and put them on. I love putting on new shoes, especially since they are all clean, you can wear them all around the house (this only makes a difference if you live in an Asian household). My shoes are so nice and cushy, unlike my old ones (which can't claim to be Nike "Air"s anymore since they've sprung some leaks). When I lived in San Diego, my hallmark test for my new shoes was to put them on and then jump down from the top of the stairs to the ground floor and see how the shoes (and my feet/ankles/knees) stood up. I couldn't really duplicate this test at Josh's house, but I'm pretty confident that these shoes are really good. I can't wait to go running in them! (actually, I CAN wait, because I don't enjoy running THAT much..it's just something that's good for me..)
