The idea of musicals is both entertaining and kinda funny, because they sing everything. So a phrase like, "This money's yours
please take it all. Hey, you want more?" (said by Chris after his first night with Kim) will get sung to some tune..which I find amusing to hear because imagine if people were singing what they said in real life..hilarious.

I really liked Miss Saigon.. watching it was very enjoyable. I haven't seen a musical since sophomore year in college, and that was Rent, which has a totally different feel to it. For those of you who aren't familiar, the premise is like so.. Soldiers in Saigon during the Vietnam War go to clubs where they find prostitutes. A soldier named Chris is tired of the whole scene until he meets this young girl named Kim from the countryside. It's her first night working at the club, so she doesn't really fit in. He notices her, they really hit it off, spend the night, and then get married informally. Very shortly thereafter, the American forces are pulling out of Vietnam, but during the evacuation, Chris and Kim get separated. It isn't until three years later that he hears word about her, and by then, a lot has changed...

I'm gonna stop there so that you can watch the show yourself. =) The girl who played Kim had a superb voice and range.. impressive! The guy who played Chris also had a good voice, but he was sorta lacking in the acting department, like his emotions were forced and not very convincing (JennHwang also didn't like the way he sang "Viet-naam" with a twang of sorts).

It has a bunch of really catchy and memorable songs, my favorites which are: The Movie in My Mind, The Last Night of the World, I Still Believe, I'd Give My Life For You, and The American Dream. If you've got some time on your hands, you can read the entire script online here.
