Having a cell phone is really good as a driver doing pick-ups for church or other activities. It allows you to call people when you're getting close to their places so that they can come down and meet you, instead of having them wait outside for you at a prespecified time. One of the things you learn, however, is that some people are kinda slow. Sometimes, there's a lag between when you arrive and when they'll come down, even though you tell them you are at their place already. The trick here is to call them and tell them you're downstairs, even though you are still 5-10 minutes (some pick-up locations are known to be more "laggy" than others) away. Clever, huh? So, the next time that you're a passenger and your driver calls for you to come down, ask them where they really are, you may be surprised to find that they're a couple of streets away. Or if they think that you are slower than pouring ketchup, try not to be offended if they haven't even exited the freeway yet.
