For some reason, at least one of the laces on my shoes usually gets messed up. On my Vans, the left lace is becoming unbraided to the point that it looks kinda like a fiber optic light (the one with all of the little strands). On my Rockports, the right shoelace got chewed up somehow, and then while tying my shoes one day, a huge piece just snapped off. While I do tie my shoes pretty tightly, under normal circumstances, my laces should've stayed intact. Contrary to my own desires, I decided not to replace those shoes entirely, but just buy some new laces (makes sense, right?). So, I bought some new shoelaces at Walmart yesterday. Looking at the pack, I thought there was only one lace inside. Jerm was like, "that would make no sense to sell you just one lace." And he was right. Shoe laces are really cheap! Only $1 per pair. And what a difference they make! Now, my shoes are in tip-top condition (except for the stains on the uppers and the wear on the soles), and they feel more snug.

On a side note, Shoe Goo works wonders to restore some traction to shoe soles, but it doesn't really work to make normal shoes into cleats. A lesser-known discovery made by former fellow Freeborn-102-er Winston, whose shoes never became fully "normal" again.
